Welcome to the web-site of St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. This site aims to provide a window to the College and the work we do.

Education makes a fundamental contribution to the well-being of the individual and society. Since its foundation in 1875, St Patrick's College, through its services to teacher education, in particular, can claim to have been at the heart of educational endeavour in this country. That is where we aspire to remain.

Through its courses in Education and Humanities at undergraduate and post-graduate level, the College aims to produce graduates who are skilled and knowledgeable, well-equipped and flexible, above all creative.
The defining activity of the College is and will continue to be the education of teachers. That necessitates cultivating pedagogic skills; it also requires the personal development of the teacher.

The commitment of the College to the personal development of the teacher has helped create an educational tradition which is strongly humanities based. This has enriched our work in teacher education and facilitated the development since 1993 of new humanities courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level which have been conspicuously successful.
