St. Patrick’s College’s Vincent de Paul Society and the Educational Disadvantage Centre in North William Street: A new after-school volunteer project
A new after-school volunteer project has been developed in 2009/2010 by the College’s Student St. Vincent de Paul Society, in conjunction with the Educational Disadvantage Centre. Led by 3rd year B.Ed. student Catherine McDonald, the after-school project is based in St. Vincent’s School, North William St., Dublin 1. The initiative involves three B.Ed students engaged in drama, the visual arts and music with a group of 12 primary school pupils from North William St., every Tuesday. This project is assisted by Sinéad McCauley, a teacher in St. Vincent’s School and Graduate of the College, who is currently taking the M.Ed., Special Option in Educational Disadvantage in the College. A small exhibition of the children’s art work is currently on display outside the Educational Disadvantage Centre in the College.
