RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
Research is an integral part of the work of the Education Department. Members are actively engaged in a wide range of individual and collaborative projects at both national and international levels.
Our research agenda focuses on:
- the curriculum;
- the pedagogical implications of cultural diversity, poverty, social exclusion and special educational needs;
- issues related to the development of human beings and societies over time and across local and global contexts
In recent years the College has established a number of centres that are directly linked to its education remit.
The Educational Disadvantage Centre (EDC) contributes substantially to national policy on educational disadvantage.
The Centre for Human Rights and Citizenship Education (CHRCE) plays an important role in supporting teaching and learning in global and local citizenship within College programmes through its research and resource development programmes.
The Centre for Human Development seeks to deepen understandings of development through research, scholarship, teaching, dialogue and actions with groups and institutions who are engaged in praxis (integrated reflection and action) including those working in diverse and mainstream educational contexts.
The Mathematics Education and Literacy Education Units work collaboratively with schools, communities and other organisations to promote best practice in language, literacy and mathematics education.
