Research interests in the department include

• algebraic geometry: moduli spaces of sheaves on K3 surfaces, Azumaya algebras on K3 surfaces and Hodge dualities
• mathematical physics: Super Conformal Field Theories on Borcea-Voisin Calabi-Yau manifolds
• differential geometry: neutral Kahler metric on four-manifolds
• asymptotic analysis: hyperasymptotic methods for the expansion of multiple integrals
• mathematics education: developing advanced mathematical thinking at undergraduate level, impact of high-stakes assessment on mathematics teaching and learning
• numerical analysis, in particular, the solution of non-linear singular perturbation problems with particular reference to Shishkin meshes
• the history of mathematics, with particular reference to early medieval Ireland, and mathematics and culture
• intercultural and development education issues
