The Secretary/Bursar, is responsible for the overall secretarial and financial accounting functions of the College, including the preparation of annual financial statements, the College budget, financial statistics and other related reports.
The Secretary/Bursar responds to the requirements of the Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General, Department of Education and Science, the Higher Education Authority, College auditors PricewaterhouseCoopers, other Government Departments & Agencies and various internal College committees, on all financial matters.
In addition to the above, the role of the Secretary/Bursar includes liasing with the College Solicitors, Insurers Agents, Bankers and other service providers. Treasury Management of the College finances and responsibility for managing research programme accounts is also undertaken by the Secretary/Bursar.
The Secretary/Bursar is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the Finance Office and the following functions/services:

- Information Technology and Audio Visual Services
- Porter Staff
- Household Staff
- Health and Safety
- Fire Extinguishers and First Aid Boxes
- Digitised Language Research Unit
- European Social Fund ESF Student Assistance Fund
- Student Medical Services
