Students are advised that whilst the deadline for applications for postgraduate teacher training (primary) in the UK is 1 December for entry in the following September, applications should be made through the GTTR in early October as colleges in the UK commence the selection procedure very early. Students applying for entry to PGCE/PGDE are advised to apply for General Primary courses covering age range C3-11. Please note that only one application form may be submitted to the GTTR. Please check out the revised procedures for the registration of teachers with the Teaching Council of Ireland under Council Directive 2005/36/EC (EEA Countries) May 2010. Please also check the new regulations regarding the Irish Language Requirement for primary teachers trained overseas.
Latest news on Funding
The Teacher Training Agency in England announced on 10th November 2011, the re-introduction of bursaries for entry to PGCE primary in 2012/13. Bursaries will be confined to graduates who obtain a H1 or H2:1 degree, check out TTA for further details.
