Academic programme

Courses

Your study programme should be ready in the third week of Semester. This should be given to Bernie Donnelly C112 as soon as you have decided on the courses you are doing. You can access the following handbooks :

Awards/Credits

Education Courses are 5 ECT's each.

Transcripts are issued to Students at the end of the semester outlining courses taken, credits and grades awarded.

Credits awarded under the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) are readily transferable to home institutions in Europe as are marks and grades. Grading system used in St Patrick's College is printed at the end of the Transcript.

Please Note: Credits for U.S students are calculated at half the European Credits which is comparable to the Credit award system in North America.

Attending Lectures

Please do not arrive at lectures late and do not leave before the end of the lecture or otherwise disrupt the session. If you find that you would like to take a course, talk to the lecturer after your first session to request permission to attend and to discuss assignments and assessment for your home institution. A brief meeting after the lecture will probably suffice.

It is your responsibility to make arrangements with lecturers concerning assignments and assessment.

Medical/Insurance

As a registered student, you are entitled to the services of the College Doctor, Dr Patrick Kelly and partners. Their surgery is located immediately opposite the College Main Gate, on the Drumcondra Road. EU residents should bring an E 111 form to avail of free medical benefits. It is a good idea for all visiting students, particularly non-EU residents to take out a good insurance policy.

Student clubs, societies

You are very welcome to join College clubs and societies during your visit. There are sports clubs in the College and you should visit the Student Union site at

Student Union Clubs and Societies
