Activities and Services - Quality Review |
SELF-ASSESSMENT The self-assessment process begins in the spring of the review year. The Quality Promotion Co-ordinator meets with the Head of Department to initiate the process and provide supporting documentation. A presentation to the whole department is undertaken as soon as possible to discuss the process. If appropriate, a sub-committee is set up to co-ordinate the review process (not applicable to smaller departments/units). A schedule is then drawn up outlining the activities that will be undertaken as part of the review with a timetable for events. Methodologies for self-review are identified, engaging all of the stakeholders. These are designed and administered. The self-assessment report is drafted and submitted to the QPC at least one month prior to the peer review visit. The purpose of self-assessment is to encourage the unit to reflect on its objectives and to analyse the activities it engages to achieve its objectives. It provides for analysis and evaluation of the unit's functions, services and performance from the point of view of the unit staff and service users. The report provides the peer review group with background information on the unit to enable them to prepare for the site visit as well as providing them with data necessary in compiling the final peer review group report. The Quality Promotion Unit provides a template for the report to both units. See Also: |
