Welcome
Senior Tutor
Anne Marie Byrne, BA, M.Phil.
Office Hours
A drop-in advisory service for all students operates on Mondays from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm and by appointment on Wednesdays during term time.
Aim
To Improve Student Well-Being, and Reduce the Likelihood of Students Dropping Out.
The role of the Senior Tutor is to insure that issues affecting students are dealt with in a helpful way, and in the student's best interests. Students at third level often experience difficulties that require a sensitive approach from somebody who is empowered to act on their behalf. These difficulties may be of a personal or academic nature, e.g. bullying, deferrals, or academic appeals.
The Senior Tutor can also provide advice on the best way of getting things done within the College with the least amount of fuss, and can, if needs be, direct students to the proper services. Overall, the Senior Tutor assists students in their relations with the College and provides a point of contact and a source of support and information both on arrival and in times of difficulty. Students are encouraged to visit the Senior Tutor no matter how small the problem may appear to be.
