St. Patrick's College Theatre was built in the late 1960s and is still to this day a theatre to rival almost any in
Dublin. The auditorium, including balcony, has a capacity of up to 500. The stage, one of the largest in Dublin, boasts a full fly-system, drapes, cyclorama, and an elaborate lighting rig.

The Theatre plays host to host to a huge number of college activities. Theatrical productions are mounted by the College Drama Society, and by individuals and groups from the Masters programme in Theatre Studies. A more recent addition has been SPARC, the college repertory company, which harnesses the talents of graduates of the MA.

Other events include the annual Song Contest, the St. Vincent de Paul Variety Show, Mr. St. Pat's, and other entertainment organised by the Student's Union.

As well as graduation ceremonies, the theatre is also used for the prestigious Seamus Heaney lecture series, and for concert performances by orchestral and choral ensembles from within the college and beyond.

Such are the facilites available that the theatre is in ever increasing demand as a commercial receiving venue. The annual stage school competitions Minitops and Showbiz Kidz are held here each spring and autumn respectively, and the college also hosts annual shows by Scouting Ireland, Marie Keating Dance School, and Centrestage, to name but a few.

First Active Children's Theatre also stage what is arguably the most ambitious and spectacular show to be seen outside of professional theatre in Dublin every spring.
