John McGahern Irish Writing Commemorative Evening

The English Department, St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, will host the next John McGahern Irish Writing Commemorative Evening on Thursday 7th May 2009 in Room D210 at 7pm.

This is the third evening in an annual event celebrating John McGahern’s writing and celebrating the best Irish writing of the contemporary moment.  Dr Eamon Maher (Tallaght IT) Author of John McGahern: From the Local to the Universal will speak briefly on “ ‘No Surrender!’: War and the Death of Innocence in the work of John McGahern” and award winning short-story writer Claire Keegan, author of Antarctica and Walk the Blue Fields, will read from her own work.

A Wine Reception will follow.
