3rd National Conference on Research in Mathematics Education

The Third National Conference on Research in Mathematics Education was held in St Patrick’s College on the 24th and the 25th September 2009.  Conference delegates - representing primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education in Ireland and abroad were welcomed by Dr Pauric Travers.  The theme of the conference was 'Mathematics for all: Extending mathematical capacity' and it was opened by Professor Kathleen Lynch of the School of Equality Studies at University College Dublin.  Keynote addresses were delivered by Professor Jo Boaler, Dr. Janette Bobis, Dr. Dolores Corcoran and Professor Jan van Maanen.  Reports on current research spanned a wide range of issues including Teacher Knowledge, Realistic Mathematics Education, Use of Textbooks, Student Attitudes, Problem-Solving and Proof.  Proceedings are available and may be ordered from Ronan Ward.
