A Road Less Travelled
With a foreword from President Mary McAleese, this book is a collection of first-hand accounts from Irish missionaries all over the world – lay, Catholic, Presbyterian and Anglican – about their development and humanitarian work, and their day-to-day lives in places as diverse as Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Alaska, Peru, Rwanda and the Amazon rainforest. A Road Less Travelled is edited by Aidan Clerkin of St Patrick's College Educational Research Centre and by Brendan Clerkin; it is published by Four Courts Press. It also contains special contributions from John O’Shea (GOAL), Tom Arnold (Concern), Justin Kilcullen (Trócaire), Fr Seán Healy (Social Justice Ireland), and others. A Road Less Travelled has already received interest from local and national media, including interviews with Seán Moncrieff and George Hook (both Newstalk), and will be the subject of forthcoming pieces in the Irish Independent, RTÉ radio (The God Slot) and Newstalk (Talking History).
Proceeds from sales are being donated to the Mukuru Art & Crafts Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
