The first algebraic geometry conference in Ireland was held at St Patrick's College Drumcondra on Friday November 26th and Saturday November 27th 2010.
It was a great success with excellent seminars by mathematicians of international standing. The speakers were: Ben Mckay (UCC), Anca Mustata (UCC), Andrei Mustata (UCC), Bernd Kreussler (MIC), Marianne Leitner (TCD) and Vahid Yazdanpanah (UCC). The talks were followed by intensive discussion sessions with potential for further research. Members of the mathematics community at TCD, DCU and NUI Maynooth also attended the conference.
It is planned to continue this collaboration. The next algebraic geometry conference will be held at UCC in 2011, with invited speakers from the UK and Ireland.
This conference was funded in part by the St. Patrick's College Research Committee.
