Book by Andrew O'Shea launched

 

Midsummer’s evening in St Patrick’s College was the backdrop for the launch of Selfhood and Sacrifice: René Girard and Charles Taylor on the Crisis of Modernity, by Dr Andrew O’Shea, of the Education Department. Professor Michael Cronin from DCU did the honours of launching the book by speaking to its central themes of violence and transcendence in light of the recent Irish context. Dr Pauric Travers welcomed guests and introduced the speakers. The occasion was a great success and was no doubt enhanced by the good weather which allowed the conversation to continue in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of the Quad.
