Back to Africa
Deirdre Flavin (2003), Alan Matthews (2005), Eoin Hegarty (2006), Sinéad McCauley (2nd Year) 2006, and staff member Colm Hefferon will be working as part of a team of educators this year in Ethiopia. Eoin and Sinéad and other Irish volunteers will be working with street children in Atse School Addis Ababa, whilst Deirdre, Colm and Fr. Michael McCullagh CM, will be working with staff who educate trainee teachers in a college of education run by the Sisters of Charity in Wolayta-Soddo, Southern Ethiopia, about nine hours drive from Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian immersion programme is being organised by Fr Michael, a former student of St Patrick's College.
Alan Matthews, who graduated from the College in 2005, is returning to Africa to continue his work and meet up with the students he taught there last Summer.
We wish all the team a safe journey there and back.
