St Patrick's College Basketball Team reach All-Ireland Final

Last year, due to organisational problems, St Patrick's College Ladies Basketball team was in Division Four of the league.  However a string of excellent performances meant that they topped that division and earned the right to play in Division 2 for the year 2007/2008.  After a hard fought and successful campaign from the beginning of the year (beating NUI Maynooth and Carlow IT at home) they ended up topping this Division and went on to play the All Ireland Final in University of Limerick against Garda College.  This match was held last Sunday, 6th April 2008.  The team performed excellently on the day and were right in it up to the end of the third quarter but in the end lost out to a stronger team from Tipperary.  The opposing team had two players from the Irish International team and this proved to be decisive in the end.  All in all, it has been a hugely successful year for the team and hopes are high that they will have another successful year next year as many of the players will still be in the college.
