Bronze for O'Neill

Darren O'Neill, BA student of St Patrick's College, and boxer with Paulstown BC in Kilkenny, continued Ireland's good run at the European Boxing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on Tuesday 18 July as he moved impressively into the last eight.

Ireland's third quarter-finalist faces Fundo Mhura of Scotland for a place in the semi-finals on Thursday 20 July and a guaranted bronze medal after comfortably beating Dutch champion Dimitri Serdjork 36-14.

O'Neill said "I felt really good in the third and fourth rounds when I got my rhythm going and never felt in danger at any point in the fight".
