Delegation from Brazilian Ministry of Education visits St Patrick's College

A delegation from the Brazilian Ministry of Education, consisting of Mr Leonardo Barchini, Mrs Vanessa Costa and Mrs Edna Borges, as well as Ms Renata Mello, visited St Patrick’s College on Tuesday 22 June. They were welcomed by Dr Pauric Travers, President of St Patrick's College, Dr Mary Shine Thompson, Dean of Research and the Humanities, Professor Mark Morgan, Dean of Education, and members of the Education Department, Dr Pádraig Ó Duibhir and Dr Paul Downes.

Dr Pádraig Ó Duibhir of the Education Department made a presentation to the delegation on the Irish Education System in general while Dr Paul Downes, Director of the Centre for Educational Disadvantage, spoke about issues concerning student retention in the education system and the efforts being taken to counter educational disadvantage in Ireland. The exchanges were cordial and the delegates participated fully in the informal presentations. The delegation expressed satisfaction with their experience in St Patrick's College.
