Paul Durcan, one of Ireland’s leading and best loved poets, was Ireland Professor of Poetry from 2004 to 2007.  A Dubliner, he has been conferred with honorary degrees by both Trinity College and UCD. He is a member of Aosdána. Life Is a Dream: 40 Years Reading Poems 1967-2007 was published in 2009.

Belinda McKeon has written on the arts for The Irish Times for over ten years. She curated Ireland’s largest poetry festival, DLR Poetry Now from 2008 to 2011 and has curated the literary strand of Imagine Ireland. Her debut novel, Solace, was published in August of this year.

Paula Meehan was born in Dublin where she still lives. Her recent collections of poems are Dharmakaya and Painting Rain, both from Carcanet Press. She has previously been Poet in Residence in DCU as well as in the other city universities. She has written plays for adults and children including Cell and The Wolf of Winter.

The event will be introduced and chaired by Mary Shine Thompson, former dean at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, and will be followed by a reception in the College.

Dublin became a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010. The award is a permanent designation, making Dublin one of only five such cities in the world. The other cities are Melbourne, Iowa City, Edinburgh and, most recently, Reykjavik. Bringing it All Back Home celebrates this award with a series o fevents that began on the 6 October with All-Ireland Poetry Day. Bringing It All Back Home invites writers associated with Dublin to celebrate this association in a series of readings and discussions all over the city.
