College Welcomes increase in CAO Applications
First preference applications for St Patrick’s College BEd and BA courses have increased significantly, according to the figures released this week by the Central Applications Office.
First preference applications for the BEd are up 24%, while applications for the BA in Humanities programme have increased by 12%. Applications for teaching courses nationwide have increased by 27%. The number of men applying for teacher education has also increased substantially - by over a quarter - on last year.
Welcoming this outcome, Dr Pauric Travers, President of the College, said that teaching was hugely popular because it provided a fulfilling career and a healthy work/life balance.
