Class of 1961 Book Donation

A presentation of a large collection of books was made to the College President, Dr Travers, at a reception in Belvedere House on 21 April 2007.  The Class of 1961 donated the books in memory of their deceased colleagues Paddy Kelly, Noel McDonnell, Colm Rohan, John Keating and Tom Powell.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anamacha.  A memorial Mass, which took place prior to the Reception, was attended by family members of the deceased.

This collection of books will be housed in the College library.  A specially designed bookplate has been placed in each book.  The purchase of the books was arranged by a committee comprising John Coolahan, Roddy Day and George Cunningham. 

At their 45th re-union in 2006, a separate collection of books written by various members of the Class of ’61 was presented to the College.  This is housed in the section of Belvedere House Library for books written by College Alumni.
