Commemorating 1916 & John Redmond
This year’s Parnell Society Spring Day will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of John Redmond and the ninetieth anniversary of the Easter Rebellion. It will be held at Avondale, Co. Wicklow, on 22 April. Dr James Mc Connel (University of Ulster) will speak on John Redmond’s First Years, 1856-1900; Ms Sinead McCoole on The Women of 1916; and Prof Charles Townshend (University of Keele) on The 22nd of April, 1916. The programme will conclude with an open forum entitled ‘‘Commemorating 1916’. Lunch, morning coffee/tea and scones are included in the registration fee of €30.
