Launch of 'Constellations - the life and music of John Buckley'
‘Constellations, the life and music of John Buckley’ by Benjamin Dwyer was launched on Monday 9 May in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. The launch included a short recital of John Buckley’s music performed by Cormac Ó hAodáin (horn), William Dowdall (flute), Kathrine Barnecutt (viola), and John Feeley (guitar). Dr John Buckley is a Senior Lecturer in the Music Department in St Patrick's College.
There was a very large attendance at the launch, including many staff and students from St Patrick’s College.
As well as providing a very readable and comprehensive study of the life and music of John Buckley, ‘Constellations’ offers an up-to-date and informative catalogue of compositions and a complete discography. While looking closely at several of Buckley’s compositions, the book is written in a comprehensible style that makes it easily accessible to anybody interested in Irish musical and cultural history. ‘Constellations’ is published by Carysfort Press, Dublin.
