Croatian Education & Teacher Training Agency Visit St Patrick's

St Patrick’s College hosted a visit from the Agencija za odgoj i obrazovanje Education and Teacher Training Agency (ETTA) of Croatia on Friday 17 September. The delegation was welcomed to the College by Dr Pauric Travers. Dr Fionnuala Waldron, Head of Education spoke to the group about the work of St Patrick’s College in initial teacher education and continuing professional development for teachers. The visit to St Patrick’s College was the culmination of a week-long study visit to Ireland where ETTA delegates visited primary and post-primary schools, and met with bodies such as the Department of Education and Skills, the Teaching Council, NCCA, PDST, NCSE, Drumcondra Education Centre and INTO.
Members of ETTA have been collaborating with Dr Thérèse Dooley and Dr Pádraig Ó Duibhir of the Education Department on a project in Kosovo which aims to support the development of continuing professional development of teachers at the University of Prishtina. Thérèse Dooley will be in Kosovo from 19-24 September facilitating the development of Mathematics inservice for teachers which will be delivered in November. Her colleagues from ETTA will be developing inservice for literacy education. Pádraig Ó Duibhir will visit Kosovo from 29 September – 1 October working with Darko Tot from ETTA and colleagues in Kosovo to consolidate the work done to date in establishing a Teachers’ Centre at the University of Prishtina in Prizren.
