Silver for Darren O'Neill, College graduate

St Patrick's College Graduate Darren O'Neill reached the final in his category (75 kg - Middleweight) at the European Elite Boxing Championships in Moscow last week, thus bringing home Silver.

On Sunday 13 June, the Irish Elite Boxing Team was met at Dublin Airport by Minister Mary Hanafin, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport (pictured here with Darren).

Kilkenny man Darren, who graduated from the BA in Humanities in 2007 and from the Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 2009, teaches 6th Class at the Holy Trinity Primary School in Donaghmede.

Darren is now the second best boxer in Europe at Middleweight, a very competitive Olympic weight. The Irish Elite team also won Gold and Bronze medals and is now rated second to the Russians.
