Drama Elective Theatre in Education Project

On 6th May, a drama elective group in St Patrick's College facilitated their Theatre-in- Education project with the 3rd-6th class group in Drumcondra National School. The piece entitled 'Jimmy and the Fish' was devised over a period of eight weeks and explored the theme of climate change. The experience began with a theatre performance which introduced the children to the characters and themes of the programme. It was then followed by a process drama workshop which allowed the children to respond to the content of the piece. The children were thoroughly engaged with the process and responded reflectively and creatively to the challenging questions which it entailed.

During the college ‘Climate Change week’, which took place during the previous week, the elective group presented their work in progress to 2nd Year BEd drama students, and received helpful support and advice for the final presentation to the children.
