Erasmus Exchange Visits in Lithaunia

In the context of the Erasmus Exchange Programme of Visiting Lecturers at St Patrick’s College, Dr Gerry O’Reilly, Geography Department, gave lectures and seminars on Reading Irish Landscapes: the Battle of the Boyne Heritage Centre, Peace Processes and Democratisation at the University of Vilnius, 1-8th May 2008. Professor Regina Rudaityte, Vice-Dean and Socrates/Erasmus Faculty Coordinator, hosted Dr O’Reilly, with the support of Dr Jurate Butkute, specialist in Irish Studies who has a student, Laura Petkute, studying at St Patrick’s this year.  Ireland’s Ambassador to Lithuania, Donal Denham, offered his warmest wishes and support to the staff of St Patrick’s College and the International Affairs Committee in the spirit of facilitating greater academic and student linkages between the College and Lithuania.  Ambassador Denham was appointed as the first resident Ambassador of Ireland to Lithuania in 2005.
