Ferriter Judging Dev
Judging Dev, a reassessment of the life and legacy of Eamon de Valera, written by Dr Diarmaid Ferriter of the History Department, St Patrick's College, and published by the Royal Irish Academy, was launched in the RIA on 14 October by Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, TD. The book contains an in-depth analysis of the impact of de Valera and includes many previously unpublished letters, documents and photographs that chronicle the extraordinary career of the most significant politician of modern Irish history and his role in the history of the Irish state.
A capacity audience attended the launch, including Eimear O Cuiv, daughter of Eamon de Valera; personnel from TV and radio, many colleagues from St Patrick's College, and members of Diarmaid's family.
A radio series to coincide with the publication of the book will commence on RTE One on 28 October.
