Final Lecture Marking 20th Anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child at St Patrick's College
The final lecture in a series of lectures in St Patrick's College marking the 20th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was delivered by Dr Dympna Devine of UCD. The lecture entitled 'Constructing a 'good' childhood: Education and the UNCRC' was warmly received by the staff, undergraduate and post-graduate students who attended. Dr Devine, who is a graduate of St Patrick’s College, gave a comprehensive review of how societal views of children impact on their experience of citizenship in the community and in schools. Dr Devine complimented the College One World Society who organised a number of events, including a special birthday party to mark the anniversary of the Convention among the college’s student body.
