Frank McGuinness Masterclass

Jayne Miller, Noreen Doody, Frank McGuinness, Pat Burke, Peter O'DriscollReflecting its strong commitment to the combination of theatre practice and theory, the MA in Theatre Studies Programme at St Patrick's College was recently delighted to host the internationally acclaimed playwright Frank McGuinness.  Beginning with an interview between Frank and Dr Noreen Doody, Head of the English Department in the College, the masterclass developed into a fascinating exploration of Frank McGuinness’s life and work, and of the state of contemporary Irish Theatre more generally.  The evening proved to be an extraordinarily rewarding experience for all involved, and as such represented a key component in the MA programme’s drive to engage with theatre as a lived experience that is ever-changing and perpetually rewarding.

Frank McGuinness’s masterclass was the latest in a recent series of such events that have involved such notable figures as the acclaimed Beckett actor Barry McGovern and the distinguished director Patrick Mason. For more information on these events and the MA in Theatre Studies, please contact Dr Eugene McNulty (Director of the MA in Theatre Studies at St Patrick's College).
