St Patrick's College Freshers Hurling Victory

 

Mark Bergin (pictured above ) played a Captain's part in the St Pat's Freshers Hurling victory over UCD in Drumcondra on Thursday evening last.  Opting to play in Div 1, the home side went into an early lead which was held right through the half leaving score of 1-9 to 0-6 at the break.

The match was in doubt up to the final minutes with UCD taking the lead momentarily with a superb goal.  St Pats held their heads and after working the ball the length of the pitch, Naoise Ó Cuinneagáin collected, made his way past a wall of Belfield backs to drill to the net and restore a slender lead before Seamus White added a brilliant point to give St Pats narrow victory with a scoreline St Pats 2-14 UCD 1-13 and earning St Pats a place in the Leinster Championship Freshers Hurling Final 2008.
