Kehoe Cup Update- St Patrick's College make history
Inspired by three goal hero Kevin Nimmo (pictured), St Pats Senior Hurlers (5-16) made history on Sunday 5 February, when they reached the final of the Kehoe Cup for the first time by overcoming the challenge of Meath (1-16) inter-county national league side, at Páirc Talitean in Navan. The victory marks an outstanding run, which has seen the college overcome three inter-county teams, following wins on the road against Louth (Rd. 1: 2-14 – 0-10) at Darver on 22 January and Wicklow (Rd. 2: 2-11 – 1-09) at Greystones on 29 January. St Patrick's will now meet GMIT in the final on Sunday 12 February at a venue to be confirmed.
Fresher's Hurlers Update
In the final Fresher’s league game of the season, St Pats (1-14) finished on level terms with CIT (1-14). Pictured is Brendan O’Connor receiving close attention from the Carlow defence. In the opening game of the Freshers All-Ireland Championship, St. Pats (2-12) yielded to a more rounded DIT (2-14) side at Grangegorman on Thursday 02 February.
Trench Cup Update
St Pats footballers (1-20) progressed to Round 2 of the Irish Daily Mail Trench Cup 2012 following a hard fought duel with DkIT (4-9) at the Ballymun Kickhams Ground on 31 January. They now eagerly await the clash against TCD at 2pm today, Tuesday 7 February in Clanna nGael Grounds, Sean Moore Road, Ringsend.
