The Conferring of Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees by Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of Dublin City University, took place on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November 2009 in St Patrick's College. Almost 1,000 graduated from 18 programmes, the largest Graduation ceremony in the College to date.

In his address to the graduands and their guests, Dr Pauric Travers, President of St Patrick’s College, said that the range and variety of programmes exemplified the commitment of the College to serve the needs of teacher education across the continuum, including initial teacher education and early and continuing professional development. Responding to the current uncertainty in education, he called for the establishment of a forum on teacher supply to regulate the supply of teachers, the continuation of the Postgraduate Diploma for Graduate entry into primary teaching and the extension of the B.Ed programme to four years.
Dr Travers is pictured above presenting the inaugural Catherine Mahon Medal to Eimear McSweeney, who got the highest marks in the PGDE. Pictured also is Dr Philomena Donnelly, co-ordinator of the PGDE programme.
