Haydn's "Creation"
On February 7th and 8th St Patrick's College Choral and Orchestral Society produced one of their most scintillating concerts to date. The programme was a performance of Haydn's "Creation", an oratorio which lasts for 2 ½ hours and which is full of the joyous sounds of Haydn's mature writing. All eight soloists were students of the college, as was most of the orchestra. The college choir was assisted by the excellent Cantairí Avondale (conductor Mary O'Flynn) and the end result was an exciting experience, one that the students will never forget. The event was masterminded by the Head of the St Patrick’s College Music Department, Marion Doherty, who conducted the performances with authority and panache.
