Proceedings of the Irish House of Lords 1771-1800
The Proceedings of the Irish House of Lords 1771-1800, edited by Dr James Kelly, St Patrick's College, was launched by Dermot Ahern TD, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, at the House of Lords, College Green on 5 November 2008. This invaluable three-volume collection, published by Irish Manuscripts Commission, makes available to scholars for the first time the proceedings of the Irish House of Lords in a crucial period. Assembled from contemporary newspaper reports, the pamphlet version of speeches and the reports of key debates, the collection provides for the first time a new vista onto the politics, policies and personalities that shaped the deliberations of the peerage during a critical period.
Dr Kelly is Head of the History Department at St Patrick's College, Drumcondra.
