Intercultural Festival 2006
The Intercultural Festival this year will take place from Monday 13th Feburary to Friday 17th February. This event is organised by the college Intercultural and Development Education Committee whose members include Doireann Markham, Siobhán McGovern, Elizabeth Murphy, Barbara O'Toole and Gearóidín Uí Laighleis. A range of Intercultural events are being held throughout the College as detailed below.
Monday 13 Feb
Intercultural Children’s Book Display
A range of intercultural story books suitable for all ages will be on display all day in Resource Centre and Library.
Tue 14 Feb
Intercultural Love Day!
The Canteen will be loved up at lunchtime with the chef serving romantic food of the world. Free ticket with every dinner for Valentine’s gifts!
Wed 15 Feb
Tomi Reichental a survivor of the Bergen Belsen concentration camp will speak of his experiences in the Auditorium from 1 –2.30p.m. A lifetime experience not to be missed!
Thurs 16 Feb
Intercultural Drama in the classroom
1pm – 2pm: Mary Howard and her 3rd yr Drama elective classroom will be presenting a seminar on International Drama in the classroom. This seminar is a must for students!
4pm – 6pm: International Trade in the Classroom (Room B103) This seminar will be given by Conall O Caoimh and Owen Mc Carthy, both primary teachers, on Intercultural Trade in the classroom focusing on 5th and 6th class SESE.
Also Throughout the week:
- There will be Irish seminars for all students on bringing an intercultural dimension to the classroom.
- Students will be giving displays of intercultural software, “We Are the World” and “Rafiki” at 1pm on Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Thursday 16th in the Resource Centre.
- There will be information available at all times for students on how Intercultural Education can be integrated into daily teaching.
