Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme
A delegation composed of members of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) in Tokyo and the Japanese Embassy in Dublin visited St Patrick’s college on Wednesday 8th October to make a presentation to students and staff on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET). This programme, sponsored by the Japanese government, seeks to enhance foreign language education in Japan, and to promote international exchange at the local community level. It does this by offering college graduates the opportunity to work in primary and secondary schools in both rural and urban areas throughout Japan and in local government organisations. There are currently 73 JET participants from Ireland working in Japan. The programme has proved extremely populare with St Patrick’s College Graduates over the years.
