Japanese Animation Week
The English Department, St Patrick's College, Drumcondra will host one on the events for the Japanese Animation Week organised by the the Japanese Embassy with the showing of a double bill on Tuesday 4th March in Room E201 at 5.00pm. Admission is Free, see below for further details.
5.00pm: "Voices of a Distant Star" (Hoshi no Koe): 30 min.
Director: Makoto Shinkai (2002)

Skinkai made this short full-digital animation almost single-handedly, and acquired a reputation as an up-and-coming creator of the post-Miyazaki generation. This is the story of Mikako and Noboru who are parted from each other in space and time.
6.00pm: "Princess Mononoke" (Mononoke Hime): 133min.
Director Hayao Miyazaki (1997)
Mononoke is the 3rd most popular animation movie in Japan and the 5th most popular anime movie in the world. Best picture 21st Japanese Academy Awards. Miyazaki combines the stark realism and the action-packed pace of Japanese saumurai epics with Japanese myth and ecological issues.
