College Alumnus John Carr retires as General Secretary of INTO

John Carr recently retired as General Secretary of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO). John was a distinguished member of the St Patrick's College Drumcondra class of 1967.

A function to mark his retirement was held in the INTO Offices, Parnell Square, on Thursday 6th May. It was attended by a large contingent of INTO personnel; by Mary Coughlan TD, Minister for Education & Skills; Mary Hanafin TD, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport; Brigid McManus, Secretary General of the DES, and many other dignitaries. The MC was Jim Higgins, President of the INTO, another College Alumnus.

Warmest congratulations to John, and we wish him a long and happy retirement. The diverse achievements of the Class of 1967 were acknowledged by Sheila Nunan in her tribute to John Carr at the INTO Congress in April.
