Reading between the lines of nutritional information
Anne Marie Kavanagh has conducted research into the nutritional value of convenience food products aimed at children and marketed as healthy and nutritious choices, for her MEd (Nutrition in Education) in St Patrick's College. She compared the sugar, salt and fat content in these foods with the benchmarked guidelines laid down by the British government in 1996 - known as the MAFF guidelines). A summary of the results of her research is published in the Irish Times health supplement, 7 October 2008.
