Filíocht agus Ceol i gColáiste Phádraig/Poet and Piper
Bhí an file Gaeilge, Louis de Paor, agus an sárphíobaire clúiteach,
Ronan Browne (a raibh baint bhunaidh aige le Riverdance agus an Afro-Celt Sound System, maraon le fuaimrianta scannán ar nós Rob Roy, Gangs of New York) i mbun ceoil agus filíochta sa Seomra Caidrimh, Coláiste Phádraig Dé Céadaoin seo caite, an 10 Márta. Bhí ceolchoirm den scoth ann, agus an bheirt acu ar camchuairt leis an saothar ‘agus rud eile de’ a sheoladh. Is saothar dátheangach é seo a bhfuil ceol, filíocht, agus ealaín fite fuaite lena chéile ann. Bhain dá raibh i láthair ard-taitneamh as an ócáid, agus díoladh neart leabhar agus dlúthcheirníní ag an deireadh.
Roimhe sin, chomh maith, thug Louis, atá mar stiúrthóir ar Ionad an Léinn Éireannaigh in Ollscoil na Gaillimhe, léacht ar an scannán faisnéise le Animo Productions a raibh baint aige féin leis, ‘Mise, Seán Ó Ríordáin’.
The well-known Irish language poet, Dr Louis de Paor, was present in the Seomra Caidrimh, St Patrick’s College last Wednesday, March 10th, where a performance of poetry and music took place with Ronan Browne, piper and multi-instrumentalist. Ronan has worked on Riverdance, the Afro-Celt Sound System and various film soundtracks including Rob Roy and Gangs of New York to name but a few. They performed pieces from ‘agus rud eile de’ (Cló Iar-Chonnachta, 2010), a bilingual poetry collection and collaboration between Louis, Ronan and visual artist Kathleen Furey.
Dr Louis de Paor is also the Director of Irish Studies in NUI Galway, and he delivered a lecture to BA students on the well-received documentary by Animo Productions with which he was intrinsically involved, ‘Mise, Seán Ó Ríordáin’.
