'Making it Matter' Conference
A conference entitled “Making it Matter” took place recently in the National College of Ireland. Organized by IRAACE (Irish Research in Adult and Community Education), it addressed the relationship between research and policy, and how research can effectively influence policy. The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform for those working in adult education to “showcase” their work and experiences. Informal workshops and discussions took place with delegates who had brought along their own research. A keynote speaker at the conference was Dr Mark Morgan, Head of Education at St Patrick’s College. Dr Morgan focused on the way research can inform policy decisions at local, national and global level. He also described how research challenges some of the traditional assumptions that we make about educational resources.
