Celebrating Excellence in Extra-Curricular Mathematics

Three mathematical societies/associations (IMS, IMTA and IMA) join in a celebration of excellence in extra-curricular mathematics on Thurdsay 23 February at 7.30p.m. in St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. The celebration will combine the presentation of the Fergus Gaines Cup to the winner of the Irish Mathematical Olympiad, with a talk by Young Scientist prizewinners in mathematics.

This is the first time the cup will be presented in memory of the late Fergus Gaines (UCD). It is significant to combine this presentation (on behalf of the IMS) with what has become the traditional acknowledgement (by the IMTA and IMA) of excellence in mathematics at the Young Scientist
Exhibition.

Colleagues across all campuses of the University (in athematics, education, science and, in particular, those in other areas interested in cross-disciplinary synergies) are most welcome.
