Mature Student Directory of Irish Third-Level Institutions

 

On Monday 15th January 2007, Dr Garret Fitzgerald and the Network of Irish Mature Students Officers (NIMSO) launched the first comprehensive Mature Student Directory of Irish Third-level Institutions in the Coach House, Dublin Castle at 11.00 a.m.  The Directory was produced as a collaborative work by NIMSO, and includes entries from all of the publicly funded third-level institutions in the Republic of Ireland.   

NIMSO was founded in January 2004 with the aim of promoting and increasing the successful participation of mature students in third-level education.  It is comprised of Mature Student Officers and Access Officers with responsibility for mature students in all of the publicly funded third-level institutions in the Republic of Ireland including St Patrick’s College.

Research conducted by third-level institutions amongst mature applicants and students constantly highlights the difficulties which this group encounters in accessing information about higher education courses, entry requirements, application and selection procedures and financial support for study at this level.  The aim of this publication is to address these issues in a clear, concise and user-friendly fashion. 

NIMSO is very excited about the publication of this unique brochure for adults seeking to pursue a third level qualification.  The publication has been distributed as a reference resource to all of the agencies concerned with the promotion of lifelong learning in the following sectors: adult and further education centres, VEC Colleges, adult guidance centres, FÁS and Social Welfare offices, public libraries, refugee centres, Area Based Partnerships and the Retirement Planning Council of Ireland.  The Directory is available from individual third-level institutions.
