Professor Mark Morgan - Inaugural Lecture, 1st March

Professor Mark Morgan will deliver his Inaugural Lecture as Cregan Professor of Education at St Patrick’s College on Monday 1st March 2010 in the College Auditorium at 7.30 p.m.   The lecture is entitled ‘What Makes Teachers Tick? Motivation and Resilience in Changing Times’.   It will specifically focus on the growth and maintenance of the status of primary teachers and how to face new challenges based on ‘outcomes’.  It will give particular attention to how teachers came to have the professional autonomy they now enjoy and the impact of curricular changes on teachers and children.

Cregan Professorships have been created by DCU to acknowledge outstanding achievement in teaching, research and service by staff of St Patrick’s College. They are named in honour of Dr Donal Cregan, CM, a distinguished former President of the College. They have the status of full personal Chairs of Dublin City University and are subject to the normal University criteria and procedures for such Chairs.
