Visiting group from Nantes

Six students from the Ozanam Institute (a Catholic Teacher Education Institute in Nantes) came to visit Ireland from April 10 to 15. The purpose of the visit is for the French visiting students to learn more about the Irish education system. They visited schools in Newbridge at the beginning of the week. The schools included St Conleth's N.S. (Principal Sheila O'Neill) and the Patrician National School (Principal John O'Donovan) in Newbridge and Caragh National School (Principal Danny Challoner) near Naas. They visited St Patrick's College where they attended classes with the Post Graduate Diploma (PGDE) cohort. These included courses on curriculum on art, history and global learning, religion and mathematics. In this way they have a further insight into the Irish teacher education process and Irish schools. Finally, they met with their Irish counterparts who visited Nantes at the end of January.
