India, India ..... Diaries of a Volunteer

 

On 31 March, Nick Blitz, Medical Advisor to the Camphill Communities of Ireland, launched Pat Little's account of her voluntary work in India. Following retirement from St Patrick's College French Department a number of years ago, Pat embarked upon her lifetime's dream to visit India as a volunteer. She worked in Sadhana Village on the Special Friends project. This is a residential project for adults with special needs. Everything she describes in her diary actually happened - it is a thought provoking and honest account of an unforgettable journey. All the proceeds from the sale of the book go to the Sadhana project.

The launch was hosted in the College by the Intercultural and Development Education Committee (IDEC) and the Centre for Human Rights and Citizenship Education (CHRCE). It was attended amongst others by colleagues, friends and family of Pat and her husband Roger, retired staff from the College. The Indian Embassy in Ireland was represented by Tara Chand, First Secretary, and Ramesh Bhat, Second Secretary.
