Reading Gulliver

Reading Gulliver: Essays in Celebration of Jonathan Swift’s Classic, was recently launched at City Hall Dublin by Lord Mayor Paddy Bourke.  The book includes essays by Mary Shine Thompson and Celia Keenan of St Patrick’s College Drumcondra.  The collection is available to purchase through Dublin City Public Libraries.

The launch coincided with the selection of Swift’s classic Gullivers Travels as this year’s One City; One Book, a project designed to encourage everyone in the city to read the same book during the month of April each year.

Jonathan Swift was born on November 30th 1667 and was educated at Trinity College.  Gulliver’s Travels is regarded as one of the greatest pieces of satirical writing in the English language.
