Rent a Rascal
On December 14th, St Patrick's College 3rd year Elective Drama students performed their Theatre for Children (T4C) piece Rent a Rascal on the college stage watched by 3rd class (St Patricks BNS) and 6th Class (Corpus Christi GNS) at 1pm. The story, aimed at these specific age groups, was devised by the students over eight college sessions, working on a theme that was educational in a rich aesthetic, using a humorous style using lots of humour, but not giving any easy answers. Students learned so much about writing for ensemble theatre , production, lighting, sound, ICT and staging that can be adapted to the school situation. The pupils had to vote for their favourite evil character to help Cindy bully her sisters and then accept the consequences of that choice. The show concluded with a lively and feisty question and answer session.
